Chapter 3. Gravity Anomaly
The girls were all very frightened when they discovered the door in the crystal cavern. "We should go home and come back some other time" said Jenny, looking at her watch. It was 6:00 and they had to be home by 7:00. (It really only took about 35 minutes to get home, but she was feeling a little scared and hoped the other girls would want to go back now too.)
But Kaytee was the brave one at this instant and boldly reached over and yanked the door open.
They barely knew what happened next, because as it opened, as all of the girls were sucked through the door !
The door shut behind them with a bang and they felt as if they were falling.....
......no, they weren't falling......
"Oh my gosh!" said Kerry, "We're floating!"
"How awesome!" said Kaytee, "Look, I can do a somersault in the air!"
They were in a huge sphere-shaped cavern with very large crystals covering the walls. The crystals were glowing in this room too, making it easy for them to see without the flashlight. Jenny started pushing off of the walls trying to see how fast she could make it from one side to the other.
The girls were doing all sorts of tricks and flying all over the room, but after a while, Shana remembered to look at her watch and realized that they had to be home soon. "You guys - It's 6:30 now and if we run we can still make it home by 7:00! I don't want to get grounded or we won't be able to come back tomorrow!"
Jenny pushed off toward the door and grabbed the door knob. It was really hard to push open due to the force of the air from outside the door. She held onto an odd shaped crystal with one hand and used the other to push on the door. She finally got it open and used her body as a wedge to hold it open so the other girls could pull themselves through. It was pretty hard to get out because the air from outside was pushing in through the door, but they all made it out and ran home as fast as they could.
When Jenny and Kaytee got to their house, Jenny looked at her watch. "Good, we made it in time... It's 7:00."
When they got inside, their mom said "I thought you guys would surely stay out until 7:00."
Jenny replied, "What? It is 7:00 right now."
"No it's not, look at the clock," said Mom. Jenny looked up at the clock on the wall, and sure enough, it did say 6:30, plain as day....
Something must be wrong with my watch, Jenny thought. She called Shana on the phone and asked her to check her watch.
Shana said, "That's strange, I just noticed the same thing. It's half an hour off."
Jenny said, "How long were we inside the cavern behind the door?......."
