Chapter 5.  Unseen Worlds
What could have happened to the man inside the crystal cavern?  It seemed really strange that they had been inside the cavern the other night for half an hour (according to the girls' watches), yet outside the cavern, no time had passed. One really awesome thing about that, Jenny thought, was that they could go inside the cavern and spend hours, or days if they wanted! and still come out and be home on time without getting in trouble.  Ideas started flying through Jenny's head now.  She thought, It will be like an expedition... I'll get tools and bring paper to map out the cavern.  I'll need lots of food and water because we might stay in there for days exploring (even though Mom and Dad will think we were just gone for the afternoon).

The next day after school, Jenny ran home from the bus stop and started gathering food and equipment.  At school, she had told the other girls to run home and do the same.  She already had lots of granola bars and fruit roll-ups in her closet office.  She'd been saving up supplies for a neighborhood Olympics, which she held every year in her back yard, with food, prizes, and music.  She grabbed her tape player while she was thinking about the music, because that would be fun to fly around in the cavern while listening to some great music.

The girls met at Jenny's house at 4:30pm, then headed off to the cavern with a feeling of excitement beyond anything they'd ever felt before.  All of the stuff they were carrying was slowing them down a little on the way over there, but they were so excited that it didn't slow them down too much.  They reached the entrance to the cave at 5:00, and dropped all of the supplies down through the entrance, one by one, with the girls following.  They turned on the flashlight to find their way to the tunnel, but once they got far enough down the tunnel, and the crystals were glowing brightly, they turned the flashlight off to save the batteries just in case they needed it later on.  Jenny had everything planned out in her head, making sure they had all the supplies they would need, no matter what might happen to them during their detailed exploration of the "floating room", as they had started to call it.

They paused in silence at the entrance to the floating room, looking at each other briefly, feeling the bond that had brought them there.  They took a deep breath and Kaytee reached out to grab the door knob, then leaned forward to get a good grasp, and pulled back with all her strength....

With a strong force, the girls were once again sucked into the "floating room" and the door slammed hard behind them.  For a few minutes, they floated around doing tricks and laughing with glee as they flew around the room.  Their bags and equipment were floating around too, and it was nice not to be weighted down by all the heavy bags any more.

Now, Jenny thought, it was time to begin exploring....
